Key Awards

APT promotes its values by annually presenting Key Awards to those members who demonstrate such values via their outstanding achievements, contributions, and service. Presented during its Annual Conferece.

Leadership Academy

APT sponsors its Leadership Academy to orient play therapists about leadership attributes, the Policy Governance© Model, and how APT conducts its daily business. Graduation is held during its Annual Conference. Complete the enrollment form ON SCREEN; then print, sign, and transmit or mail it to APT by August 31.

Publications

International Journal of Play Therapy®

APT publishes its International Journal of Play Therapy to inform members and subscribers about current play therapy research, case studies, theoretical applications, and current practices. Included in member dues, produced quarterly each January, April, July, and October, distributed via bulk mail and PsychNet, and its articles archived by APA.

Member Flash

APT publishes its Member Flash to alert and inform members about impending service and recognition opportunities and to display FlashCoupons offering play therapy vendor discounts. Included in member dues, produced bi-weekly, and distributed via email.

Mining Reports

APT publishes Mining Reports to alert and inform busy play therapists about current or emerging trends, cutting-edge best practices, and other wisdom (intelligence). Included in member dues, produced monthly, distributed via website link, and archived online for two years.

Play Therapy Magazine

APT publishes its Play TherapyTM magazine to inform members and subscribers about association news, experiential and research-based play therapy applications, practice-related issues, and promote play therapy products and services. Included in member dues, produced quarterly each March, June, September, and December, distributed via bulk mail, and its articles archived online for two years.

Research & Practice

Play Therapy Best Practices

APT endorses play therapy best practices and offers a paper on touch to assist play therapy practitioners, supervisors, and instructors.  Approved Providers and Registered Play Therapists (RPT) and Supervisors (RPT-S) must attest that they are familiar with the former but both documents of critically important to everyone!

Research

APT encourages play therapy research that demonstrates the value and effectiveness of play and play therapy, increases play therapy knowledge or improves play therapy techniques, and supports evidence-based play therapy practices.
