I received my undergraduate degree in Social Science, minor in Geography/Anthropology, at California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, CA. I also studied journalism and forestry in these years, and worked for 10 years on the land with the US Forest Service. I moved to Boulder and earned my MA in Somatic Counseling Psychotherapy at Naropa University. During my time here, I studied many body- and movement-based interventions with leaders in the field, including the Movement Cycle, 5Rhythms and Rites of Passage, Synergetic and Attachment-Based Play Therapies, Qi Gong and Taoist arts, primitive skills, Focusing, Hakomi, intuitive energetic models of healing, and other body-mind approaches. I put this education into action as an intern at both the Boulder Center for Play Therapy and the Naropa Counseling Center. After graduation, I worked as a behavior coach and Family Therapist, performing in-home therapy for traumatized children and families in the Boulder/ Denver area.
Social/Volunteer Organizations
I have volunteered with Mental Health Partners at Sanchez Elementary School's Day Program in Lafayette, as a dance class assistant at the Girls Athletic Leadership School in Denver, as an intuitive healer at Anam Chara Residential Care, and as a camp counselor for a children's primitive skills camp. I have also worked as a horse handler and as therapist support at the Medicine Horse Equine Therapy facility in Boulder, CO. I have many years of experience working with children in a variety of roles, including as therapist, family counselor, tutor, volunteer PERA, daycare teacher, and ski instructor.
More Information
Mountain Family Home Therapy offers home-based play therapy to Boulder County and surrounding areas, as well as individual counseling, and parent coaching. As owner and therapist, I provide deeply compassionate and intuitive services that empower children, individuals and families. My intention is to guide clients in tapping in to their natural wisdom and healing resources so that they can lead more authentic lives, filled with balance and flow. I incorporate Somatic Psychotherapy, Synergetic and Attachment-based play therapies, nature-based approaches, cognitive balancing of perceptions, love-based approaches (Forbes), and other therapeutic modalities based in neuroscience. Although I call myself a therapist, I really believe that this work is much more than that: It is an opportunity for expansion, for inspired learning and re-owning of lost parts of the self, a journey of remembering the authentic self, and for enriching relationships between parents and children.
