BA Child and Youth Development, Milligan College, 2008 MA Professional Counseling, Liberty University, 2012 Jennifer has served in various settings including outpatient therapy, crisis intervention, inpatient psychiatric care, community prevention and education. Jennifer has training and experience in working with children and families and with the agencies that serve them, both in outpatient therapy settings and in crisis intervention. Jennifer practices from a trauma-informed approach and is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is used to address issues related to trauma as well as substance use disorders, anxiety, depression and a myriad of other issues.
Jennifer sits on the board of Carter County Drug Prevention Coalition and is actively involved on the steering committee. Currently, CCDP is working with 'Playing to Live' (based in North Carolina) to establish a pilot site for this community-based expressive arts/play therapy program. Jennifer is slated to be the site coordinator for this initiative. Jennifer sits on the Community Advisory Board of the Northeast Tennessee Nurse-Family Partnership, a unique maternal child health program that is based on rigorous evidence of effectiveness from randomized, controlled trials.
