My name is Ann Fernandes, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Early Intervention Specialist. I graduated from Providence College in 1997 with my BSW and from Bryn Mawr College with my masters in 1999. I specialize in working with young children ages 0-8 years old and their families. I have extensive knowledge and experience working with this population in a variety of settings including Early Intervention, Head Start and other therapeutic child care programs/clinics. My experience is across a wide range of client populations including special needs and “at risk”. I have worked with children and families facing issues including complex medial conditions, early diagnosis of Autism, anxiety, attachment/separation, and other special needs populations. Additionally, I have worked with a population of children and families who have experienced trauma, who have faced multiple, severe environmental stressors, many of whom have experienced multigenerational patterns of abuse and/or neglect. My skills enable me to engage and form therapeutic relationships with children and their families in these challenging situations. I feel passionately about helping parents and children to build strong relationships by learning and growing together. The early years of life comprise a very important developmental period and the relationships formed during this time create the foundation for social-emotional growth. Therapeutic services including play therapy, family therapy and parent-child therapy are provided at my office. In addition to direct services with children/families, consultation with parents, schools and childcare are also available.
