1APT offers the designation of Registered Play Therapist (RPT) and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S) credentials to individuals who have provided APT with documentation that they have: (a) a mental health graduate or higher degree; (b) been licensed or certified by a state authority; (c) completed a minimum number of play therapy training and supervision clock hours; and (d) completed the requisite continuing education hours. The credentials do not certify, imply or affirm the knowledge or competency of such individual but only confirms that the education and training requirements identified herein have been satisfied.
2APT fosters and identifies Approved Centers (AC) of Play Therapy Education by university mental health departments to generate more graduate play therapy instruction, research and publication, supervision, and clinical experiences. Approved Centers have provided APT with documentation satisfactory to APT that the university will be offering instruction and other learning experiences that advance the field of play therapy, generate more play therapy faculty, and assist earning the Registered Play Therapists (RPT) and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S) credentials. The APT approval status of any AC does not certify, imply or affirm the knowledge of any institution or AC but only confirms that APT education provider criteria have been satisfied.
3APT offers approved continuing education provider status to agencies and individuals who have provided APT with documentation satisfactory to the APT Registration and Continuing Education Committee that the agency or individual will be providing program(s) that meet APT requirements for continuing education of Registered Play Therapists and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisors. The APT approval status of any continuing education provider does not certify, imply or affirm the knowledge of any agency, individual or presenter of a program but only confirms that APT continuing education provider requirements have been satisfied.
