Overview

The Foundation for Play Therapy is proud to announce the offering of three (3) full scholarships to attend the Annual APT International Conference.  The 2025 conference will be held October 7-12 in Houston, Texas. The Conference Scholarship application will be available March 14 through April 15, 2025. Applications are due no later than 5:00pm (PDT) on April 15, 2025.  Recipients will be selected and notified no later than May 22, 2025. 

Established in 2018 to assist graduate students and those who recently graduated (within the last 12 months) with financial assistance to support becoming a credentialed play therapist. Applicants will be evaluated based on a combination of financial need and promise as a play therapist. Applicants with evidence of advocacy for underserved communities and groups are of special interest to the scholarship committee. Additionally, points are awarded for current involvement in APT or state branch activities.

Scholarship recipients will be required to submit a 400-500 word essay on their experience at the APT International Conference for publication in PlayTherapy^TM magazine.

Details

Scholarship recipients will receive: Accommodations at conference hotel for 6 nights, complimentary registration for the entire conference, and a $250 stipend to defray meals and other expenses. The approximate value of each scholarship is $2,500. There is no cash value for unused portions of this scholarship.

Process and Instructions

The Scholarship Conference application period for 2025 has closed.

All completed applications received by the April 15, 2025, 5:00pm (PDT) deadline will be reviewed by the Foundation for Play Therapy Board of Directors.  In the case of a tie, phone interviews will be scheduled with specific applicants. All applicants will be notified of their selection status no later than May 22, 2025.
