Annual Conference Scholarship

Overview:

The Association for Play Therapy is proud to announce the offering of two (2) full scholarships to attend the Annual APT International Conference.  The 2019 conference will be held October 1-6 in Dallas, Texas.  Scholarship applications are due no later than July 31, 2019.  Recipients will be selected and notified no later than August 9, 2019.  Scholarship recipients will be asked to submit a 400-500 word essay on their experience at the national conference for publication in PlayTherapyTM magazine. 

Details

Scholarship recipients will receive:  accommodations at conference hotel for 6 nights, complimentary registration for the entire conference, and a $250 stipend to defray meals and other expenses.  The approximate value of each scholarship is $2,400.

Process/Instructions

All completed applications received by the July 31, 2019 deadline will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee.  In the case of a tie, phone interviews will be scheduled with the committee chair and at least two members of the Scholarship Committee.  For questions or additional information, please contact APT Vice President/COO Diane Leon, dleon@a4pt.org.

Applicant must be enrolled in a graduate mental health program (psychology, counseling, social work, marriage and family, or school counseling/psychology).
Please list the university and program where you are currently enrolled.
Describe how you are already emphasizing play therapy in your studies and/or work (Max 75 words).
List courses completed or in progress, webinars, research completed, practicing at internship site, volunteer work and/or organizations you participate in etc.
Applicant must stay within word limit, demonstrate understanding of essay question, and answer question fully.

What significance will attending the conference have on your personal and professional life (Max 100 words)?
How do you plan to practice and/or share what you learn and experience at the conference (Max 100 words)?
Is there any additional information you would like the committee to know about you, your education, or your career goals (Max 100 words)?
I understand that if chosen as a scholarship recipient, APT will request a 400-500 word essay on my experience at the APT Annual Conference for publication in PlayTherapyTM magazine.
