RPT-S Application

Thank you for your interest in the Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor^TM (RPT-S) credential. Before beginning the application process, please review the Credentialing Standards for the Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor^TM.

The RPT-S is intended for professionals who currently hold the Registered Play Therapist^TM (RPT) credential and have held the RPT for a minimum of three (3) consecutive years in good standing at the time of application, and are able to document the following additional items:

• verification by your state licensing board permitting the provision of clinical supervision to mental health practitioners.
• an additional 3 years and 3,000 direct client contact hours of clinical experience AFTER receiving clinical licensure (use Form A).
• the completion of an  additional 500 direct client contact hours of play therapy specific experience since obtaining the RPT credential (use Form A).
• a minimum of 30 instructional hours of training in the clinical supervision of mental health practitioners, of which six (6) hours must be play therapy specific.  
• documentation of ongoing professional development (continuing education) during the transition from RPT to RPT-S (see Section 06 of RPT-S Standards)
  

RPT-S Application Instructions: 

1)  Before starting the application process, please have the following documents available as .pdf files in order to upload them when prompted.

a. Copy of current and active clinical mental health license.
b. Copy of completed Form A - to document both clinical and play therapy experience.
c. Copy of state licensing board requirements and proof of eligibility to provide clinical supervision.
d. Copy of certificates or documentation of both clinical supervisor instruction and play therapy specific supervisor instruction.
e. Copy of certificates or documentation of RPT continuing education hours.
f. Signed copy of RPT-S Attestation.

2) Complete the form below. Note, there is no option to save your file and return to this form.

3) Upload the necessary documentation to support completion of requirements when prompted.

4) Submit a non-refundable application fee, which includes complimentary initial 12-month activation fee with approval. 

You will receive a confirmation email from APT upon receipt of your application. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. APT will notify applicants within 10 – 12 weeks via email regarding their application status.
