Credential Renewal InformationHolding the APT credential demonstrates your commitment and dedication to the high standards of and best practices in the field of play therapy. Moreover, it provides you with the recognition and credibility necessary to practice in this specialty area with confidence. All Registered Play TherapistTM (RPT), Registered Play Therapist-SupervisorTM (RPT-S), and School Based-Registered Play TherapistTM (SB-RPT) registrants must renew their credential annually, as well as provide documentation of play therapy continuing education every three years. Renewal of your APT credential is contingent upon the receipt and acknowledgement by APT, of ALL required items. Failure to renew your credential by its due date will cause your credential to become inactive, and prevent you from using the designation.
Renew Today!Effective January 1, 2023 Credentialing Renewal – All registrants will be required to submit 24 hours of play therapy specific instruction with their next CE renewal. Two (2) of the 24 must be in cultural & social diversity specific to play therapy. In addition, RPT Supervisors must also submit supervisor training hours, and SB-RPT must submit three (3) hours of DSM training. Of the 24 CE hours due, APT will accept 12 or more in-person (contact) hours and up to 12 non-contact or live webinar hours.
